The students of International Media Studies (IMS – 2012), Deutsche Welle Academy, Bonn, paid a visit to the State Parliament of Noth Rhine-Westphalia (NRW) in Düsseldorf. The group was headed by the IMS Program Director, Prof. Dr. Christoph Schmidt.
A breakfast in Parliament’s cafeteria was arranged followed by aguided tour inside different areas of the Parliamen,t and discussion with Dr. Hans Zinkann, spokesperson of NRW, respectively.
In a briefing session, the students were informed about the Parliament’s structure and different political parties’ role in the cabinet. Then the students had a meeting conversation with Dr. Angelica Schwall-Düren, Minister of Federal Affairs, Europe and Media. The Minister had thoroughly discussed with the students about her responsibilities in the cabinet. She gave her viewpoints on the State media working efficiency, cooperation between European Media, and about the new media.
Afterwards, the group had a visit to Media Authority of NRW region (Landesanstalt für Medien NRW), where they were warmly welcomed by the staff and Dr. Peter Widlok had briefly given presentation about his organization’s role, its working structure and briefly explained the answers of the questions. The studnts had enjoyed the lunch there and the tour ended with a little excursion to the city centre.
